It Got Cold In Florida

It was a bit too cold for our taste here in Florida. We ended up with frost everywhere and on everything. It was weird to use my windshield washer on the truck and have the water turn into a layer of ice on the glass. I had to jump out of the truck and scrape the ice off so I could see. Antifreeze in our washer fluid? Hey! This is Florida!

This is a picture of our neighbor's house. The roof is supposed to be a brown color as you can see where the sunlight has melted a patch in the thick frost.

Sailing...Takes Me Away To Where I'm Goin'

It seems that Dean (we posted in this blog about his recent marriage to Brenda) is planning to move up to "Canadia" with his new bride this summer and he said that we could have the honor of purchasing his sailboat at the time he is leaving. We agreed to the purchase and stopped by this weekend to visit "Over Easy" and see what she needs to be freshened up. She's in fairly good shape, just needs a re-sail, a little glass work and some of the fittings replaced, etc. Pretty much standard stuff.

Luann and Katrina are already having dreams of spending time on "Over Easy" and just cruising around. As for me, I'm planning on taking an ASA certification course for keel boats and researching the materials for the boat refit, the trailer overhaul and setting up the Dodge Magnum for hauling the boat. So far, I got the trailer hitch and wiring harness for the car (thanks again, eBay) and I'm working on the class schedule for the training. I've identified a few of the parts needed for the boat and where to get them, but I'm going to have to eventually measure a few things to make sure I'm getting the right stuff.

The most ironic thing is, the boat manufacturer is about 2 blocks (as the crow flies) from the plant where I work.
