David & Karen Are Engaged - (Post #200)

This Friday evening, August 1st, Karen's long-time boyfriend asked for her hand in marriage (only a hand... I would have asked for more than that...)

Remember, you can click on the images to see a larger version of them.

The setting was well chosen for the proposal, but first.. let's talk about the dinner beforehand.

We went to Rib Daddy's restaurant, which turned out to be a nice place for barbecue and fresh seafood choices and came with great service too.

Our server also turned out to be part comedian and peppered his work with jokes and gags. At this point he is working up a joke to use on Karen using a sugar packet and a Sweet & Low packet as props, under the watchful eye of her beau, David.

Just as he was getting close to the punchline, Karen announced that this joke was being performed in the presence of a minister in our family seated across from her. The look on his face is priceless.

It was even funnier when she followed up her last announcement with the fact that the minister is her father, which of course means she would be considered to be a 'Preacher's Kid'. That poor guy simply wasn't going to catch a break with this family.

As a thank you for such a fun time, Karen decided to tip our waiter with a 1 MILLION dollar bill. After signing it, of course...

And our waiter took a snapshot of the group just before we left, on our way to the spot where the announcement was to take place (unbeknownst to Luann & myself).

After stopping at the Snook's Bayside TikiBar, David and Karen took a moment to unwind. Do you think David might be just a little bit nervous?

See, I told you we're at Snook's Bayside...

David announced that he had something to say and began talking about the amount of time Karen and he had been together. He finalized his very earnest speech by saying that he wanted to enter into a committed relationship and...

...presented Karen with an engagement ring.

In order to make it 'official', he even got down on one knee as he asked her to marry him.

After accepting his offer, she stared at her hand as if to say; Hey look! It sparkles!

Congratulations to both of you, we wish you a long and happy life together.

As for the Post #200 remark in the title, this posting marks the point whereby I have made 200 contributions to this weblog. Since I tend to have the propensity for writing more than a simple word or two in each of my posts, this could be considered to be something of an acheivement, considering that this blog was first started in November, 2005.
