Happy Birthday Luann!

Just like last year, it has taken a bit to get things together for Luann's birthday. Since Bradley's birthday party was on Luann's birthdate, we kinda took it casually... On the 22nd, we did a Wherigo geocache that is located in Brooker Creek Preserve, then took in a movie (a live-action version of Disney's Sorcerer's Apprentice) afterwards. As a gift, Luann was asking for an E-book reader, so after some research, I found a Barnes & Noble, Nook which seems to fit the bill.

Here are a few pictures of our visit to the preserve.

On our way into the preserve, we came across a couple of gopher totoises, and three white-tailed deer. This one was the third, and he just kept right on eating as Luann was taking the photos.

Once we got into the preserve and had the Wherigo program working on my cell phone, we came across several points of interest.

We liked how the park has these informational kiosks set up all over the place.

Luann said she wanted to take this picture for a fellow cacher, whom seems to like photographing spiders.

Along the way up the boardwalk, we came across this strange, stainless steel affair...

Which turned out to be an artist's rendition of a snake.

There was so much information about the preserve on these stopping points along the trail.

This one here demonstrates the changes in elevation of the terrain. You can see where the red cloth is knotted on the pole...

And it explains how the red cloth on the next pole is at half-mast because the elevation changed.

There are so many critters and intertwined eco-systems.

Open up the little log on the left, and there are little plastic bugs in there! Nice diorama...

There was some much to see and we had a limited time to be there, so we will come back to Brooker Creek to get the full experience.

Oh look! A mushroom, from a mushroom''s point of view.

After completing our tour, we got the coordinates for the final container's location and got a picture of this egret, which seems to be busily looking for dinner.

So, we had fun here, and it was great to finally figure out how to do Wherigo geocaches with my cell phone...
