"Epic Mount" Might Be (Is) Done For...

Well, Bradley had an accident tonight and the damage to his car (Epic Mount) was pretty bad. Not sure if his car is rebuildable, but it doesn't look good (12/12/10 - actually, the insurance company has declared it a total loss). Brad and Willis are fine and at last report, Brad's left forearm has an abrasion burn and his elbow is sore while Willis has a sore chest.

Here is what the car looked like when we first arrived on the scene.

Actually, Katrina & I were geocaching over near work and had finished up with finding 6 of them when we got the call from Willis that there was an accident. As you can see, it was a bit cold in the field where we were hunting caches tonight.

So we hopped on the freeway and made it over to the crash site. As you can see, the hit to the front end of the car was pretty bad.

It looks like everything that was on the nose was pushed up over the top of the motor.

Thankfully, both front seat airbags did their job and the injuries to the occupants were at a minimum.

Unfortunately though, Brad ran into the rear of this Jaguar, so this 'ouch' isn't likely to be a light-duty altercation when the dust finally settles.

Not only was the bumper cover knocked loose, the right-rear quarter panel seems to be raised up and no longer lines up with the trunk lid. Not a good sign.

So, here is Epic Mount, being loaded onto a flatbed tow truck...

All ready to head out.

I noticed that the tag light was still on and told Katrina about it. What was strange was when she walked over to the lamp and switched off the purple thing taped to the bumper (which looks like a book reading light). It turns out that the tag lamp had burned out, so Katrina rigged up this version of a tag light until they could get a replacement one. Dat's muh gurl whut done dat! Reminds me of my days at that age when I was called "The King of Jury-Rigging".

Here is a shot of the woman involved in the accident, the police officer next to her and the tow truck driver. The woman is bending down to take pictures of her car with her bright pink cell phone... As you can see, she is quite ambulatory and shows no signs of any physical issues. Let's see what happens once she talks to a lawyer... Whiplash? Some kind of crippling injury with pain & suffering, perhaps? If so, then that will be something for the insurance companies to battle over, but hopefully, I'm wrong.

The aftermath in the hospital waiting room as Brad and Willis wait their turn to have their X-rays taken (Willis is trying to hide behind Brad's dad).

Brad has the equivalent of road rash on his left forearm from abrasion caused from the airbag and his elbow is sore because it bumped into the driver's door window, but other than that, he seems to be ok.

The calm after the storm. Just another one of those things that we all have to go through in life. Hopefully, lessons have been learned tonight and this scenario will not have to be repeated. Thank goodness the issues are small and all parties involved can go home later and talk about it.
